What is on show

The show focuses on the hardware and software that sit at a shop’s checkout: smart POS terminals, self-checkout machines, integrated payment systems and the consumables that keep them running. According to the organiser, exhibitors will include terminal maker Sunmi, NTT, Gpos, TDD Group and the payment companies Fuiou Pay and FuturePay, which are expected to present new-generation products.

ASIA SHOP runs alongside the Asia Vending & Smart Retail Expo and the 20th China Retailers Convention. Together they cover the retail chain from the vending machine and the shelf to the payment terminal. Visitors can move between unattended retail, store technology and payment acceptance in a single trip.

Why it matters

China’s offline retailers are going through a steady digital upgrade. Convenience stores, supermarkets and specialty chains are rolling out self-checkout and integrated payment systems to cut labour costs and speed up the shopping experience. Guangzhou, the commercial hub of South China, has a complete supply chain for retail hardware and payment technology. That makes it a natural sourcing stop for buyers from across China and the wider Asia-Pacific.

The trend is visible in Southeast Asia too. In Malaysia, banks and payment firms are moving merchant acceptance beyond the classic card terminal into Android smart POS, soundboxes, SoftPOS and unattended terminals, while national QR standards such as DuitNow push every new device to accept QR as well as cards. A dedicated ASEAN Buyer Matchmaking Zone gives retailers, acquirers and system integrators from the region a structured way to meet suppliers.

What to watch

  • How far self-checkout and AI-assisted retail tools have moved from pilot to mass deployment in Chinese chains.
  • Which terminal makers bring devices certified for Southeast Asian payment schemes and QR standards.
  • Whether the ASEAN matchmaking zone turns into distribution deals for Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian retailers.
